Myanmar at a Glance

Posted By : admin/ 83 0

Myanmar stretches from the Himalayas in the north to the intensely tropical regions of the south. Between the two, the mighty Sittaung and Ayeyarwady rivers drain across vast arid valleys bounded by jungle-clad hills, while in the east, the Thanlwin cuts through the Shan Plateau, dividing China from the Andaman Sea. The rivers meet the ocean at deltas where patch works of paddy are interlaced by winding canals and rivulets, but where devastat ing cyclones also regularly wreak havoc. A storehouse of art and culture, Myanmar offers sights  ranging from the ethereal ruins of Bagan to the faded struc- tures of colonial Yangon, and rich traditions of music and dance  nurtured in the conservatories and theaters of Mandalay.
