Shwe Leik Too

Posted By : admin/ 152 0

The 13thcentury Shwe Leik Too  is a midsized temple in late- Bamar style with four projecting porticos and a corncob tower, enclosed by a low perimeter wall. The temple is of interest primarily because it is among only a handful of monuments in Bagan which the government still allows visitors to climb. A lowroofed passageway leads from the vaulted inner chamber, which holds both standing and seated Buddhas, to the upper terrace from where fine pano ramic views extend over the northern half of the archeolo gical zone. To the southwest, Htilominlo looks resplendent in the dawn light, while the myriad temples and pagodas to the east form striking silhou ettes as the sun rises behind them.
