Day 1

Day 1: ARRIVAL YANGON

Upon arrival, a representative will be waiting to greet you at the airport. The best arrival time is before 9:00 in the morning. Please set your travel arrangements accordingly or book our optional pre-night stay in Yangon. Start the day with a visit to Yangon city center. The tour will encompass various colonial-style buildings, the City Hall, and the Independence Monument. After lunch in the city, follow your guide for a visit to Bogyoke Aung San Market, the largest market in Yangon. There will be plenty of time to browse the hundreds of stalls for souvenirs and bargains. In the early evening, enjoy a guided tour of Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, and one of the most famous pagodas in the world. The 99-metre tall structure is covered in gold leaf and surrounded by 64 other smaller stupas. Walk around the complex with your guide and discover why this sanctuary is so well-loved. Later in the evening, you are free to enjoy some leisure time in the city. Perhaps take a walk to Chinatown, where you will see many street vendors and you can sample a variety of different local products and tropical fruits. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2

Day 2: YANGON – BAGAN (1.15 hrs by plane, included)

After breakfast at the hotel, a driver will meet you in reception and transfer you to the airport for a domestic flight to Bagan. Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. On the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, the city is famous for the Bagan Archaeological Area, where over 2,000 Buddhist landmarks overshadow its green plains. Upon arrival in Bagan, you will be welcomed by our guide and begin a full day of sightseeing that will take you to Nyaung Oo Market; Wetkyi-In-Gubyaukgyi, a temple with exquisite frescoes of scenes from Jataka; the City Gate and Ananda Temple, the most beautiful temple in Bagan with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior; Thatbyinnyu Temple, the tallest temple in Bagan, built by King Alaung Sithu in the early 11th century. After lunch, observe the production of one of Myanmar’s best-known handicrafts in a traditional lacquerware workshop and witness typical life in the villages of Minanthu and Phwasaw. Round off the day by watching the sun set over the Ayeyarwaddy River from Bupaya. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 3

Day 3: BAGAN – HEHO – INLE LAKE (40 min by plane, included)

Wake up to breakfast at the hotel, then leave Bagan for a domestic flight to Heho and Inle Lake. Upon arrival in Heho, enjoy the scenic one-hour drive to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake. Today’s excursion starts with a visit to a bright and authentic local market in Nyaung Shwe, which sells fresh fruit and vegetables. Then, board a private long tail boat to travel on Inle Lake, one of Myanmar's most fabulous sights. Sail across this vast, serene lake past Buddhist temples and the stilt houses of the Intha community. Watch the local fishermen propelling their boats with their unique leg rowing techniques. Admire the beautiful floating gardens developed from clumps of water hyacinth secured in position by bamboo poles. Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the primary Buddhist site on the lake containing five gilded images of Buddha. Discover Inle Lake’s local artwork at a silversmith workshop, the traditional weaving town of Inpawkhone and a cheroot processing plant where stogies are made by hand. At the end of the tour, enjoy the rest of the evening relaxing and soaking up the magical atmosphere of this unique location. Overnight in Nyaung Shwe/ Inle Lake.
Day 4

Day 4: INLE LAKE – HEHO (35 km – 1 h) – MANDALAY (0.45 hrs by plane, included) - AMARAPURA - MANDALAY (37 km - 1 h)

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel, then you’ll be transferred to the Heho Airport for your flight to Mandalay. Mandalay is a former royal capital in northern Myanmar located on the Ayeyarwady River. In the center of the city, surrounded by a canal, you will find Mandalay Palace, the last royal palace of the last Burmese monarchy. Upon arrival in Mandalay, you will be met by a guide who will transfer you to the town. On the way, visit Amarapura, an ancient capital built on the advice of astrologers. Then visit U Bein Bridge, a crossing that spans the Taungthaman Lake near to Amarapura. The 1.2-kilometer bridge was built in around 1850 and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world. In the dry season, it feels strangely high and mainly traverses grassland, but after the rains, the area is flooded and the water laps just beneath the wooden boards. The tour of Mandalay includes Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi Monastery; Kuthodaw Pagoda, famous for housing the world’s biggest book; and a visit to Mandalay Hill at sunset for a panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 5

Day 5: DEPARTURE MANDALAY

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then visit the holiest shrine in Mandalay and home of Myanmar’s most revered Buddha image, Mahamuni Pagoda. The 4-metre-tall seated Buddha has been covered with so much gold leaf by visitors over the years that is has acquired an unusual lumpy texture. Enter the temple for a close up look at the Mahamuni Buddha image and then spend some time walking around the temple grounds soaking up the spiritual atmosphere of the surroundings. After the temple tour, visit the oldest and largest market in Mandalay, Zegyo Market. Enjoy shopping for local products before visiting wood carving, gold leaf making and tapestry workshops. At the end of the tour, transfer to Mandalay International Airport for your onward or return flight. Although this is your last day of discovery around some of Myanmar’s most famous and fascinating sights, we hope that your memories of this remarkable country will last a lifetime.
