Tour Overview

Day 1


On your arrival at Yangon International Airport, make your own way to the arrivals hall where you´ll be greeted by our English-speaking guide and will start your introductory tour through Yangon City. The best arrival time is before 9:00 in the morning. Please set your travel arrangements accordingly or book our optional pre-night stay in Yangon. Yangon is Myanmar´s largest city and one of the most exciting spots in the country as a former political exile, where financial specialists and foreign travellers run in. As Myanmar´s business and cultural hub, reflects the most the changes that occurred since the country reopen the borders. There's a rash of new eateries, bars and shops. We will stop for a lunch at the local restaurant (own expenses) and then we´ll continue to Kandawgyi Nature Park - a scenic park with a lovely view of the famous Kandaweyi Lake & Karaweik Royal Barge. From here, we´ll continue to Bogyoke Aung San Market, the largest market in Yangon. There will be plenty of time to browse the hundreds of stalls for souvenirs and bargains. Continue to Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar. Follow the guide’s lead around this massive complex and learn why this temple is so revered. In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. To wrap up our first Myanmar discovery we stroll down the Chinatown to do a little shopping or to taste fresh fruits and other local foodies. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2

Day 2: YANGON – HPA AN (290 km – 5.5 hrs)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and get ready for a long drive to Hpa An, an energetic, friendly town on the banks of the Thanlwin River. On the road observe the tranquil rural life of the locals settled in the beauty of the scenic Myanmar landscape. Along the way, we’ll visit Bayin Nyi cave, the beautiful monastery, that sets in front of a sheer rock wall and that is surrounded by a large natural spring. Perhaps we´ll see young monks going for a swim, still dressed up in full monk attire. When we´ll be approaching our destination, we´ll stop in another cave, Kawgun cave to see the unique decoration as every conceivable inch of this cave is covered in Buddha image. From the top of the rock standing over this cave there is a magnificent view over this breath-taking surrounding. If the time permits, we will wind up for a sunset on Bat cave, enjoying the romantic vibe of this place. Once in Hpa An, check-in to your hotel and head into town to visit Shwe Yin Myaw pagoda. Overnight in Hpa An.
Day 3

Day 3: HPA AN – MAWLAMYINE (60 km – 1 hrs)

Wake up early to breakfast at the hotel and prepare for a hike to Mount Zwekabin and Lumbani Garden, the tallest of the limestone mountains that rings Hpa An. It is a long walk but once you´ll on the top, the splendid view over the Kayin country-side will leave you breathless. After the lunch (own expenses), we´ll continue driving to our following destination, Mawlamyine, anterior British capital of Burma. The British influence can be seen in the buildings, churches, and the beautiful Strand road along the river. Along the way, we’ll stop at the impressive monastery with beautiful woodcarving that was built by a local villager named U Nar Ouat, who was famed for his wealth and generosity. Once in Mawlamyine we´ll stroll down Mawlamyine Market to get a glimpse of typical local products and specialities and then we´ll continue to Kyauktalone and Kyaik Thanlan Pagoda to enjoy the sunset over this scenic landscape, beauty and melancholy of this capital. Take a chance to stroll down the beautiful Strand road to dine at one of the many restaurants along the river. The Burmese consider Mawlamyine the foodie capital of Myanmar. In fact there is an old Burmese saying “Mandalay is for eloquence, Mawlamyaing is for food, and Yangon is for boasting”. Overnight in Mawlamyine.
Day 4


Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a half hour drive to nearby Bili Island, home to artesian industries. Witness the traditional handicrafts, world well-known Ywa Loot pipes and rubber bands making. After the lunch (own expenses), we´ll continue with our Mawlamyine´s sightseeing, passing along the remaining colonial buildings, we´ll stop at the Holy Family Cathedral to see it´s rare but beautiful interior, and in nearby Judson’s Church, devoted to the Judson, monk who translated the Bible into Burmese. Our tour will end with the visit of Yada Bonmyint Monastery (Queen Sein Don Monastery), where we´ll learn about the origin of architecture, woodcarving and Burmese handicrafts, that decorates its interior. Overnight in Mawlamyine.
Day 5

Day 5: MAWLAMYINE – GOLDEN ROCK (155 km – 3.5 hrs)

Early morning, after breakfast at the hotel, start your journey to Golden Rock, a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State. This drive will take approx. 3.5 hours to Kyaiktiyo Base Camp. From the base camp, travel by local open-air truck along a winding road. A huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. Golden Rock is one of Myanmar’s most important pilgrimage sites. Offer Gold leaf to the shrine as per local customs. Upon the arrival at Golden Rock, you´ll check in to your hotel. Take the opportunity to rest and recover after the long drive or take a walk around this sacred place to get inspiration for your following discoveries. Overnight in Golden Rock.
Day 6

Day 6: GOLDEN ROCK – BAGO – YANGON (185 km – 4.5 hrs)

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and get ready for your drive to Bago, the ancient capital of the Mon Kingdom, 80 km northeast of Yangon. We´ll stroll down the streets of Bago and we´ll explore religious sites and the remains of the ancient palace, we´ll learn more about the rich history of this spiritual city. We´ll visit one of the largest monasteries of Myanmar, Kya Khat Wai Monastery, where we´ll observe the Buddhist monastic life and we´ll visit the magnificent Shwe Maw Daw, over 2,000 years old temple. After lunch we´ll go the see the 55-metre-long Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha (‘Reclining Buddha’), which dates back to 994 AD. En route to Yangon we´ll stop in Htaukkyan township to visit the Allied War Cemetery, settled in the peaceful scenic area, is the final resting place for more than 27,000 Allied Soldiers who perished during the World War II in Myanmar. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 7


Wake up to one last breakfast at the hotel, and depending on your flight schedule, make the most of your last moments in Yangon at the local shops. Transfer to the airport to continue with your travel arrangements.
